Have a meal in Brighton, 'the vegetarian capital' of England, full of vegetarian and vegetarian-friendly cafés and restaurants.

See the White Cliffs of Dover and visit Dover Castle, Dymchurch with its four mile-long Roman sea wall, and many other castles and fortifications along the coast. Enjoy looking round the mediaeval port of Rye, Canterbury Cathedral, Knole and Sissinghurst with their association with Vita Sackville-West, Portsmouth's Naval Dockyards and Battle Abbey, near where the Battle of Hastings was fought.

Laze on the beaches and have a look at the attractions on the Victorian piers. Pop over to the Isle of Wight and visit Carisbrooke Castle, were King Charles I was imprisoned before his execution.

The glorious rolling landscapes of the Downs and the Weald are an invitation to any walker, while stately homes, ancient abbeys and churches, and signs of Iron Age and Roman occupation can be found everywhere.

Woodland Retreat Isle of Wight

The Woodland Retreat is a nurturing environment promoting health and wellbeing. It is a place where you can reconnect with yourself, other people and the natural environment.

You can stay at the retreat in the bell tent or the garden apartment. Whilst you are here you can order a vegetarian/vegan breakfast, join a yoga class or have a private lesson. You are welcome to come along to any of the events on offer whilst you are here.

We are located in 3 acres of natural woodland near to the beach, Quarr Abbey, the coastal path, and woodland walks. We are on the main bus route stop linking you to the Isle of Wight, so we are a perfect base for exploring this wonderful island. We are also a 5 minute walk from the main Isle of Wight Wightlink Ferry linking you to London and afar, so it is really easy to get here too.

We hope that your experiences here will enhance and develop happiness, health, joy and wellbeing. We are passionate about health and wellbeing and therefore we are an alcohol, smoke and meat free environment.

Claridge House is a newly refurbished charming Victorian property offering individual retreats and short courses as well as bed and breakfast. Set in two acres of beautiful garden. Inside the house we have two spacious lounges, a dining room and a library/quiet room.

We have 2 single bedrooms in our ground floor annexe sharing an accessible shower room. In the main house on the ground floor we have 1 en-suite twin room and 1 single room with an en-suite accessible bathroom/wet room.

Upstairs on the first floor are 8 bedrooms - 1 double, 4 twin rooms and 2 single rooms, all en-suite, and a double room with a charming Victorian bathroom across the corridor. In keeping with the peaceful environment, there are no televisions and we do not serve alcohol on the premises. We regret that we do not accept children under 18 or pets. Wi-fi is available in bedrooms for guests' use throughout the House.

Our delicious Vegetarian cuisine is based on organic seasonal produce. Full board includes breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea, an evening meal and room refreshments. Vegan, food allergies and certain medical diets may be catered for by prior arrangement.

The house is an ideal place for rest and renewal for people under stress and to find relaxation. We run a wide range of wellness focused courses and are also available for exclusive house hire.
